Description
In the form of a rose with raindrop petal, this intricately worked brooch has leaves of dappled gold on a defined stem and leaf. A number of hallmarks Eagles head can be found on both the stem and the pin, along with makers mark.
The hallmarks with makers mark included add to my fascination and passion for jewellery. Picturing the workshops of Paris with their artists of jewellery making. Imagining the smells of the boulangerie the coffeehouses mingling with the creation of beauty.
Parisian Jewellers and silversmiths are intimately associated with the heart of historical Paris. Le Marais (the swamp), the hive of industry for jewels and silverware, conjures up exciting images of Royal Courts and French Aristocracy.
Strolling the Rue des Minimes to Place des Vosges perhaps heading up to the Musee Carnavalet. The periphery of Les Marais takes in Rue de Turenne. Rue Pasturelle across and down to Rue du Renard. The standards and workmanship was of such high quality that some workshops indeed achieved status as Purveyor to the king and his court.
