Description
Tested gold back silver front exquisite diamond brooch. Early to mid-Victorian period. Set with old cut diamonds on the backdrop of a metallic blue guilloche enamel background. Engine Turned. Dating around the 1820s. Finished to the rear with a pin and curl clasp. This exquisite brooch is set with old-cut diamonds in an era where diamonds were cut by hand which gave them their unique finish which lends itself to quite a different light-catching feature than a modern diamond. It most likely had a painted picture but with age has diminished.
